About the Force

Purpose:
To provide a positive and competitive environment for the players to develop and maintain a long term appreciation of soccer while continuing to hone the basic skills and fundamentals required as a foundation to develop maximum individual performance in the sport.
Player Info
Objectives and Goals:
- Improve basic skills required for soccer
- Technical vs. Tactical
- Drills – repetition breeds confidence and excellence
- Strategies – Mental/Thinking; through observation, experimentation, execution
- Independent work; I.e. Non primary foot, Ball touches
- Ball Control
- Develop “team” sport skills.
- Shooting vs. Passing
- Communication – Taking command, assisting teammates
- Camaraderie, sportsmanship, encouragement
- Develop commitment to this team.
- Collectively enjoy the experience. Practices are hard and serious. Games are fun.
Rules:
- There is no talking, except as it relates to soccer during training sessions and practices except during water breaks.
- When “Coach is talking”, no one else is and all eyes are on the coach.
- The safest thing you say to a Referee is “sorry” or “thanks ref”.
- During a game, accept your position with enthusiasm. Don’t ask for positions during a game.
- Never disrespect a teammate
- At the end of any practice, game, etc., each player must make sure the coach knows that they are leaving and with whom they are leaving.
- Pick up your trash after practices and games.
Expectations and Guiding Principles:
- The Player is responsible for his preparedness, actions, participation, attendance etc.
- The Uniform, Game Face and stepping onto the field.
- Let the coach know if you plan to miss a practice or game
- Arrive at practice and games on schedule and ready to play.
- Cleats tied, #5 ball inflated, shin guards on, water bottle
- Arrive at games no less than 45 minutes prior to game time
- Arrive early on training days to stretch
- Demonstrate good sportsmanship and respect for coaches, trainers, teammates and opponents.
- Encourage your teammates, never blame them or put them down
- Either respect your opponents or ignore them
- If you knock a player down or trip them, extend a hand and help them up
- When you are subbed out, let the coach know you are ready to get back in.
- Play as a team, win as a team, lose as a team
- Channeling your competitive energy, managing anger
- Character (and Stamina), winning attitude win or loss
- Nutrition, Hydration and Rest
Parents Info
Parental Support:
- Reinforce rules, expectations and guiding principles.
- If you are “dropping off” rather than staying at a practice or game, please arrive back on time. Be aware of weather issues that may result in early cancellation.
- In addition to goals, compliment and emphasize skills, assists, quality of play etc.
- Avoid incentives for individual scoring, emphasize team success
- Encourage your player to uphold their commitment to team, provide the choice for next year.
- Refrain from any sideline coaching as it may contradict the coaching direction and can easily confuse or distract the player. Offer side line encouragement.
- Manage expectations regarding; play time, wins, practice.
- Keep issues in perspective; communicate appropriately (avoid pre/post game).
- PLEASE: Be responsive to communications.
